To all the aspirants out there who want to pursue masters abroad…

By now, it might be confusing which exams to take to study for master's degrees abroad, as there are multiple international competitive exams. To keep the chaos at bay, you can ask for help from friends and relatives who left abroad in recent days or prefer the right educational consultant specialised in migration. You can have a clear understanding of which countries require which examinations.

Here we present a quick guide on the key points of popular competitive examinations that you should crack to study abroad. Candidates with outstanding scores in these competitive exams help to win scholarships and other financial support, which is still a big deal for most applicants.

GRE - Graduate Record Examination

A standardized examination assesses the candidate's verbal, mathematical, and analytical skills. It is one of the prerequisite examinations accepted across the globe for master's programs. The examination is very popular among Indian engineering aspirants to obtain admission to the universities of Canada and the USA. It consists of three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing.

GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Test

Management prospects shall take the GMAT, an admissions assessment for all business colleges. Average GMAT scores range from 570 to 580; however, higher scores are required to obtain admission at top business schools. In addition, the sections, such as Integrated Reasoning, make the GMAT quite challenging.

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language

As the applicants are not native English speakers, the TOEFL examination assesses the English proficiency of the candidates. Most universities and colleges accept TOEFL scores, including the top 100 colleges in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, and Germany. It is a golden standard to measure English comprehension with subtests like Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing (LSRW).

IELTS - International English Language Testing System

IELTS has been widely accepted in the UK, Australia, Ireland, Canada, Europe & South African universities. The speaking session in the IELTS examination is done face-to-face with an examiner. The subtests in the examination are similar to that of TOEFL, which are Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing (LSRW).
